Welcome to beautiful tea fields in Kyoto Wazuka!!

Meet your guide at the  JR Kamo Station and travel a short distance to the farming town of Wazuka.

This agrarian village contains a trove of family-run farms and tea houses with a formidable lineage of producing high-quality infusions.

Launch your tour by participating in an introduction to the fine art of tea-making at the Tea Zion House in Wazuka.

Next, delight in a bit of heart-pumping exercise during a trek through the tea fields. Your guide points out sites of interest as you drink in the refreshing country air and admire the lush tea fields that stretch as far as the eye can see. If you're lucky, glimpse a troop of Japanese macaques snacking on a nearby fruit tree.

Feel your own stomach start to rumble and make your way back to the Tea Zion House. Reward yourself with a sampling of teas and an ONIGIRI rice ball lunch overlooking the fields. Before returning to the train station, purchase a box of green tea to carry home with you.

This was an excellent experience. Our guide Greg, is an American, living in Japan. His perspective, as an American living in Japan, but with an extensive knowledge of Japanese culture, was perfect for our American family seeking to experience Japanese culture. Not only was the tour of the Tea Fields excellent, but the experience of being invited into his home and experiencing drinking Tea in a real Japanese house was probably the highlight of our trip to Japan.
